Norfolks coastline really is worth exploring and out of season there are some beautiful sites - between November and January the seals descend upon Horsey Gap to give birth to their pups. We popped down and were delighted to see loads of seals enjoying the sunshine and the first few pups had already arrived!
Stay Warm In Our Camper!
There are lots of campsites around this stretch of coastline and with our newly fitted heater, you can snuggle up in the lovely warm campervan after a long walk along the beach and a hearty meal by the log fire in a local pub. What better way to spend a weekend! :)
On a recent hire to a family of 4, our campervan took a scenic tour of Scotland and despite the typical Scottish climate, a great holiday was had!
Glencoe Mountain Centre
The great thing about a campervan is that most of what you need is already with you! Your bed, the cooker, a grill, running water (you campers definitely know its a luxury not having to walk to the campsite tap every time you need some water!)
At CamperFan Hire we also add in all the extra bits you will need to rustle up a meal, such as pots, pans, utensils etc. You can find the full list here.
Above and beyond this, our advice is pack light! If you are not sure if you will need it, you probably won't!
Campervan's are very cleverly designed to maximise areas for storage, with lots of little cupboards, space under the bed etc so carrier bags/soft bags are ideal for packing your essentials in.
Bedding - sleeping bags are compact, so ideal!
Towels - microfibre ones are great as quick drying
Toiletries - decant essentials into small bottles to save on space
Clothes - in our family, everyone has 1 small bag (include something warm for the evening, even a hat!)
Swimmers - great for the beach, campsite water fight or to head to a pool on a rainy day
Shoes - 1 bag for flip flops, welly boots and trainers should do it!
Waterproofs - we are in the UK ;)
Sun-tan lotion - yes, even in Norfolk!
Mosquito spray - you will be pleased to have this when relaxing in a field at dusk
Torch - there are lights in the campervan, but a torch will always come in handy when camping
Camping chairs are a must for around the camp fire (bring your own or you can hire from us). Many campsites will allow fires, you can usually hire/borrow these on site and buy wood, firelighters etc from the campsite too.
Books, games, toys. Again, pack light and be choosy about what you take. A football, cricket/rounders set and swingball are great options, along with a set of cards. After a day of playing outside and an evening toasting marshmallows around the fire, our kids love watching a DVD before bed, whilst snuggled up in the pop top roof.
Food. Bring a few basics from home; tea bags, milk, some eggs and bacon for breakfast, pasta and sauce, a bottle of wine! Unless you are camping in the middle of no-where, you can pick up food as you go.
Awning. If you are staying more than a few nights, this will definitely come in handy for storing your belongings, as well as using for extra living space (especially if the weather is temperamental!) We have a drive-away awning for hire or if you have a small tent, bring it with you!
